Manushi Chhillar roped in by UNICEF to raise awareness on menstrual hygiene in India

Manushi Chhillar roped in by UNICEF to raise awareness on menstrual hygiene in India

Manushi says, “Poor menstrual hygiene affects the health and wellbeing of women and especially girls, but we don’t very often discuss this. The existing culture of silence, misinformation and harmful myths around menstruation denies many girls the future and opportunities that they deserve.”

Poor menstrual health continues to be a cause of concern due to the lack of education on the issue, persisting taboos, and stigma, limited access to hygienic menstrual products, and poor sanitation infrastructure, that often undermines educational opportunities, health, and overall social status of women and girls in India and around the world. Too many girls are missing out on the future they deserve because of the culture of silence, misinformation, and harmful myths around menstruation.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated menstruation-related challenges for women and girls such as the disruption of access to sanitary products and correct information on periods and more.

Manushi adds, “COVID-19, lockdowns and safety precautions have disrupted access to sanitary products, adding to the challenges they face. We need to speak up to dispel menstruation-related taboos and stigma, sensitize men and boys to be supportive of girls; and support availability of essential sanitary products for girls and women in times of crisis.”

UNICEF is advocating for the following objectives this year and Manushi too will work on these through her social media platforms that has a captivated youth audience base.
1. Girls to receive menstrual hygiene education before they get their first period
2. Sensitizing men and boys to be understanding and supportive
3. Access to safe spaces and products to manage their periods
4. Dispel the taboos and open conversations about periods
5. Increase investment in menstrual health and hygiene
6. All women and girls should be able to manage their menstruation hygienically, safely, in privacy, and with dignity.

Alia Bhatt says the F word at JIO MAMI Movie Mela while talking about Kareena Kapoor Khan We earlier told you how beauties Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan recently dropped in at the JIO MAMI Movie Mela 2019 and had a fun conversation with Karan Johar who turned moderator for one of the sessions. Apart from all the interesting revelations that they made, here's a hilarious gaffe from Alia's end that we are going to remember for a while. It so happened that the Bhatt girl was all praises for Kareena. She went on to heap praises on the Veere Di Wedding actor, but it came to an abrupt end after Alia realised she had just blurted out the 'F' word!  “She (Kareena) has genuinely been an inspiration to me. Earlier there was this thing that if an actress gets married, her career slows down a bit but she totally broke that for all of us,” Alia said. This was followed by how amazing Kareena's airport wardrobe really was. “Rocking that track pant with a pout, it’s just f

Inside Photos: Ileana D'Cruz paints the town red with her Birthday cum Halloween party When your birthday and Halloween fall on the same day, dress up like a Halloween party and blow the candle! Ileana D'Cruz clubbed the two like a boss and we saw her celebrating her 33rd birthday with her girl pals. It certainly looked like she had a fun-filled night. The pictures are proof enough. For the night, the actor picked a black dress and a silver coat to go with it. Her girlfriends were in the Halloween mode too, and black ruled the night. Check out the photos below. While she herself hasn't opened up about it, Ileana has reportedly split with boyfriend Andrew Kneebone, and her frequent social media PDA isn't a thing anymore. However, she seems to have immersed self-love instead, since we keep coming across her amazing travel pictures. Much excited about ringing in the 33rd spring, she shared a photo of herself in a bikini soaking in the sun, a day prior to her birthd
