Apple TV+ renews acclaimed trilingual epic Pachinko for season 2 starring Yuh-Jung Youn, Lee Minho, Minha Kim

Pachinko, the trilingual epic dramahas been renewed for a second season by Apple. Soo Hugh, who is the creator of the multigenerational saga, reportedly has a four-season plan for the drama based on Min Jin Lee’s best-selling novel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the tech giant/streamer has handed out a second-season renewal for the critically acclaimed series which is based on Min Jin Lee’s best-selling novel of the same name. The pickup comes as season one of the series from creator Soo Hugh debuts its finale Friday. For her part, showrunner Hugh has repeatedly stressed that she has a larger plan for four seasons of eight episodes each to tell the multigenerational story. Hugh told THR ahead of Pachinko ’s March debut that each cycle would include “a departure every season that examines one crucial historical point in that story each season” and that each batch of eight episodes will reflect a season of the year, with the sophomore run expected to take place in the spring.

NCT’s Jisung temporarily halts activities following positive results for Covid-19

South Korean pop group NCT sub unit NCT DREAM’s member Jisung temporarily suspends activities after testing positive for Covid-19. According to Korean tabloid Soompi, the artist’s agency SM Entertainment officially announced on April 30, that Jisung had tested positive for the virus and had therefore temporarily halted all activities. He is currently suffering from a mild sore throat, but has no other symptoms, and the other members of NCT DREAM have all tested negative using rapid antigen tests. The agency issued an official statement announcing Jisung’s diagnosis. “Hello, this is SM Entertainment. NCT’s Jisung was diagnosed with COVID-19 on April 29,” the statement began. Jisung previously received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and he does not have any particular symptoms aside from a mild sore throat. He has currently halted all scheduled activities and is undergoing treatment in self-isolation at home in accordance with the guidelines of government health authorities.” T

Disney pushes The Marvels release to summer 2023 as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania moves up

Disney announces Marvel's Ant-Man and Captain Marvel sequels swapping their release schedules. The sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel, which was originally set to debut on November 11 this year but was later pushed to February 17, will now hit theaters on July 28, 2023. The new slate shuffle means Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will now arrive on February 17, 2023. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Marvels now moves to July 28, 2023, making way for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to fill the earlier slot. It’s understood Ant-Man is further along in the production process, and so the decision was made to swap launch dates with The Marvels . At this year's CinemaCon, held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. showcased footage from five of its upcoming cinematic lineups including Black Adam , Wonka , The Flash , Elvis and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom . CinemaCon is the annual convention hosted by the National Association of Theatre Owners.
